Janet Marlene (McClain) Henson, 72-year-old resident of the Coves at Bird Island (Afton), passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 14, 1951, in Jay, Oklahoma to Clarence Henry McClain and Vina (Finnell) McClain. Janet grew up in Ketchum and graduated from Ketchum High School in 1969. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Ketchum. Janet managed Chezzie’s convenience store for many years in Ketchum. She enjoyed going to casino’s, crochet, visiting with her friends, bowling, and especially spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Henry McClain and Vina McClain, her siblings, Vina “Marie” Trundle (Earl), Clarence “Baney” McClain, and Mary Ann McClain.
The family includes her children, Tammy Martins (Randy) of the Coves, Sherry Walker (Tim Robinson) of Afton, Tracy Foote of Vinita, Richard DePriest (Nicole) of Missouri, grandchildren, Clayton “Pooter” Still (Whitney), Haylee Still, Tyler Bryant, Clinton Walker (Naomi), Brittney Dobbs (Bailey), Rebecca Sanko (Dylan), great grandchildren, McKenzie, Lincoln, and Tatum Still, Jonnie and Arlane Sanko, and Brooks Dobbs, siblings, James McClain (Rita) of Texas, John McClain (Sharon) of Coweta, Skip McClain (Carol) of Vinita, Carol Long of Langley, and a special sister in law, Susan McClain of Coweta, numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita.
The celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cleora Community Church, Pastor Skip McClain will officiate. Interment will be at the Ketchum Cemetery.
