Betty Ruth (Conard) Willy died December 30, 2014 at National Health Care Nursing Home in Joplin, MO. Betty was born November 14, 1922 to Harold James and Sarah Garnet (Newkirk) Conard in Furley, KS.
After graduating from Vinita High School she worked at Schaefer's Office Supply as a bookkeeper and clerk.
Betty married R. E. (Bud) Willy on May 8, 1950, in Vinita, OK. They made their home in Vinita and lived there until 1972, when Bud's work transferred them to McAlester, OK. While in Vinita, Betty was employed at Vanity Fair Women's Store form 1959-1969, as a bookkeeper and clerk from 1969-1972, she was Craig County Deputy Court Clerk. While living in McAlester,
Betty worked as the Pittsburg County Court Clerk from 1973-1976. In 1977, Bud was transferred back to Vinita and Betty worked as the Office Manager at Evans Frozen Bakery until 1979. In 1979, Bud was transferred once again to Bartlesville, OK and they lived there until Bud's death in 2011. Betty moved to Joplin in 2011 and lived there until her death.
Betty was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority for over 35 years with chapters in Vinita, McAlester, and Bartlesville. She was a member of the First Friendship Bridge Club and Fleur De Lis Garden club for many years. Betty was a long time member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita and later St. John's Catholic Church in Bartlesville.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Bud, her parents, one sister Kathleen Thompson and a brother David Conard.
She is survived by three children: Stephen (Shirley) Willy of Joplin, Kathy (Bob) Barrett of Plano, TX, and Barbara (Keith) Adams of Yukon, OK; five grandchildren: Rebecca (Justin) Stilley of Joplin, Amanda Harlin of Joplin, Christopher (Elizabeth) Hayes of Wylie, TX, Emily Adams of Norman, OK and Sarah Adams of Yukon, OK; and four great grandchildren: Eva and Ella Stilley, Isaiah Harlin, and Ally Hayes. Additionally, nephew Bryan Conard and nieces Carol Conard and Lisa Frost.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Rev. M. E. Cashen officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
