Mark W. Peerson, 70-year-old Langley resident, passed away late Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Circle of Life care center in Lowell, Arkansas. He was born on July 20, 1955, in Poteau to Lawrence Ray Peerson and Wanda Sue (Cupp) Peerson. Mark was a 1974 graduate of Vinita High School and a 1979 graduate of Oklahoma State University, with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He married Mary Kathryn (Woods) Wright in 1991, she preceded him in death on April 9, 2014. Mark worked in auto sales in Tulsa for many years, then opened his own dealership east of Vinita. He also had Peerson Paintless Dent Repair for a time before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, vacationing in Colorado, spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Kathryn in 2014, his parents, Lawrence in 2018 and his mother Wanda just this past November 2025.
The family includes his son, Justin Wright and wife Crissy of Bella Vista; his sister, Lori Starks and husband Ronnie of Vinita; grandchildren, Zane Wright and wife Hannah, Izabell Wright; nieces, Mandy Bryant and husband Travis and Margo Belcoff and husband JJ; other relatives and friends.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel in Vinita, Mr. Bob Hampton will officiate. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita. “Vinita’s only locally family owned and operated funeral home.”
