George Walker "Doc" Chaney
November 29, 1936 ~ November 16, 2024

George "Doc" Walker Chaney, a longtime Coalgate resident was born on November 29, 1936, to George William and Bertha (McColloch) Chaney, at Vinita, Oklahoma. He passed away on November 16, 2024, at Coalgate, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 18 days.

“Doc” graduated from Centralia High School and later played football for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

He worked at Goodrich Tire Plant in Miami, Oklahoma, for 30 years. “Doc” was a Craig County Commissioner from 1987 to 1997. He was also a rancher.

“Doc” married Betty Myers on August 14, 1958, at Narcissa, Oklahoma. They were married 50 years before her passing on December 17, 2008. He later married Alvera Spicer on April 16, 2010, at Coalgate, Oklahoma. They have been blessed with 14 years together.

“Doc” was very active in the Lions Club when he lived in Welch, Oklahoma. He enjoyed crappie fishing, roping and listening to Bluegrass music. His favorite times were spent with his family, especially going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Son: Rick Chaney and wife Kristi of Coalgate, OK

Daughter: Geneva Chaney of Edmond, OK

Grandsons: Glenn Chaney of Edmond, OK

Garrett Chaney and wife Candace of Dewey, OK

Great Grandsons: Charlie and Rett Chaney of Dewey, OK

Sister: Lilia Province of Miami, OK

Step-Sons: Matthew Reifsnider and wife Usha of Whittney, England

Dave Reifsnider of Ada, OK

Step-Daughters: Vickie Reifsnider and partner Steve Walker of Ada, OK

Ronnea Reifsnider of Coalgate, OK

Along with numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dearly loved friends
