Margaret June (Lawson) Archer

Margaret June (Lawson) Archer
June 24, 1932 ~ February 12, 2025

Margaret June Archer (née Lawson), 92, passed away on February 12, 2025, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

June was born on June 24, 1932, in Vinita, Oklahoma, the seventh of eight children born at home to Clara Marie and Casey Lawson. She often shared the story of the day her youngest brother, Bob, was born-she had gone to school as usual and returned home to find a new baby brother while their mother calmly ironed her older sister's prom dresses.

On April 25, 1952, June married Richard Archer in Vinita. At the time, Richard was serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Hawaii. She later joined him on the island of Oahu, where they welcomed their first child, Janet. After Richard's military service ended, they moved to Pryor, Oklahoma, where their second daughter, Diana, was born. The family then relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, where they had their son Jack and third daughter Carla. In 1971, they returned to Oklahoma and together built a successful business-Archer's Dry Cleaners-where June worked alongside her husband with dedication and determination.

June had a passion for life and a love for creativity. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, gardening, and even working with stained glass. She had a special talent for bringing people together-family gatherings were often filled with laughter over rowdy card games and other spirited competitions. Above all else, she loved playing the slot machines-and she was lucky! Her family marveled at how often she hit jackpots.

A natural conversationalist, June could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere-and frequently did. Whether standing in line or meeting someone new, she would chat effortlessly about her family and share stories that sometimes made her loved ones blush.

June was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard in 2001; her parents Clara Marie and Casey Lawson; six of her siblings-Arliss Griffin, Norma McNeely, Joe Lawson, George Lawson, H.A. Lawson, and Kenneth Lawson; and her daughter Diana Douthit in 2023. She is survived by her brother Robert Lawson; her children Janet, Jack, and Carla; as well as many extended family members who will cherish her memory always.

A graveside service will be held on March 4, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, Oklahoma (822 N 2nd St.), beginning at 1:00 PM.

June's warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her
