Charles H. “Chuck” Woodall, 88, lifetime Vinita area resident, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on September 27, 2024. Chuck was born to Charles W. “Boot” and Adeline Woodall on their Cherokee allotment southeast of Vinita. He attended Wayside school and graduated from Vinita High School.
Following high school, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a two-year duty in Japan as a General Supply Specialist. Upon returning home to Vinita, he was married to Mary Irene Loeffelholz, and they were blessed with over 65 years of marriage.
Chuck was employed 40 years with Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative. As a Lineman/Serviceman, he worked most all of NOEC’s territory, where he made many friends both in the field and at the cooperative. He and Irene were members of the Hash-n-Break square dance club, and he volunteered many hours working the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo with the American Legion.
Outside of the immense love for his family, Chuck will best be remembered as a good friend and neighbor. His garden produced years of tomatoes, cantaloupes, and watermelons, which he shared with many, who also returned the favors in a multitude of ways. He, and our family, will be eternally grateful for the love and care shown by his friends and neighbors, especially in recent months as his health declined.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Lolene Harris, Mary (Eddie) Parnell, Beth (Glenn) Smith, Jim (Shirley) Woodall, Helen Vire, and infant brother Wesley; father- and mother-in-law L.L. and Della Loeffelholz, brothers-in-law Hugh Trimble, Larry Jordan, Ed Saunders, Bob and Sonny Loeffelholz.
Surviving family includes his loving wife Irene, daughter Cindy (Rodney) Allen; son Charles James “Jimbo” (Christy) Woodall; granddaughters Courtney Dawes, Hayley Woodall and Heather Woodall; and great-grandchildren Cade, Cameron, Cailynn, Cayson, and Brooklynn “BB”. He is also survived by sisters Ruth Trimble, Wilma Lou Rowe, and Jeane Jordan, who provided the most loving care of her older brother in his time of need; brother-in-law Denton Vire, sisters-in-law Carolyn Sue Saunders, Gloria Loeffelholz and Jane Loeffelholz, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved teasing and spending time with.
The family of Chuck Woodall wishes to thank his wonderful caregivers Kathy, Jamie and Jamie of Home Instead, the compassionate staff of ACG Hospice, our friends and neighbors the Wolfe, Markham, and Spaulding families, Jerry Goins, and the table of knowledge at Hi-Way Café.
