Troy Lawrence Southerland, of Walters, was born August 23, 1938 in Lonoke, Arkansas to Patrick and Helen (Tackett) Southerland. He died peacefully at his home on August 17, 2015 at the age of 76. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2:00pm at Open Door Church of God in Walters.
Troy married Lillian Pearl Tuck on July 3, 1959. They just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. He worked as an iron worker in California for 42 years before retiring. In his free time Troy enjoyed riding his motorcycle and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed bowling in his later years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially loved his dogs. He is preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Helen.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian, of the home; sons, Alan Southerland and Larry Southerland and his wife Terry Moore; grandchildren, Christopher Southerland, Katie Wilson, and Elizabeth Cheek; great-grandchildren: Ian, Courtlynn, Whitney, and Brooklyn; 4 sisters; and 1 brother.
