Janet Sharon Schnee
December 20, 1942 - May 11, 1999
Janet Sharon (Henderson) Schnee was born 20 December 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Cecil Lamar Henderson and Mildred Ancil (Wilson) Henderson. She died suddenly on 11 May 1999 in her home in Walters, Oklahoma. She was 56 years old.
She preferred to be called by her middle name, Sharon.
Sharon graduated from Lawton High School in 1960 and Cameron Junior College in 1962. She then graduated from Oklahoma State University (Stillwater, Oklahoma) in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education where she was first in her class.
She married Ronald (Ron) Gene Schnee on 28 December 1963 in the First Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma while both she and Ron were still attending Oklahoma State University. They made their home in Stillwater until Ron graduated with his Master's in Education. Ron was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and they moved to Fort Bliss, Texas. After Ron's military commitment was complete, they moved back to Stillwater so Ron could obtain his Doctor's degree and Sharon complete her degree.
While in Stillwater, two children were born. Ronald Lamar Schnee was born 23 November 1968 in Stillwater, and Krista Renee Schnee was born 01 March 1973.
Sharon worked in the school systems as she followed her husband in his Educational Administrator career in Oklahoma. Predominantly she was a Library Aide in the public schools. They served together in Stillwater, Oklahoma City, Deer Creek, Hinton, Lone Grove, and Walters. She was active in the PTAs at all the school districts Ron was working. The Lone Grove (Oklahoma) Kiwanis Club selected her as "Woman of the Year" in 1986. Sharon enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, and she collected antiques and all sorts of collectibles.
She spent most of her time dedicated to raising her two children whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her son, Ronald Lamar Schnee.
She is survived by her husband, Ron of the home; daughter, Krista (Stillwater, Oklahoma); her parents, (Lawton, Oklahoma); her mother-in-law, Opal Longfellow (Lawton), two brothers-in-law; Larry Schnee (Tujunga, California), Don Longfellow (Mannheim, Germany); and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, 14 May 1999, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Walters, Oklahoma. The Reverend Wade Scott will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of the Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home of Walters.
