Jimmie Odell Jones, 74, of Velma, OK
Funeral services at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Thursday, April 7, 2011, 2:00 p.m., Rev. Stan Baker officiating. Burial in the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK. Visitation will be at the Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 6, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Jimmie Odell Jones was born to Aubrey and Easter Lorene (Bigford) Jones on December 1, 1936, near Cookietown, OK, in Cotton County and departed this life on April 4, 2011, at Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 3 days. He grew up in southwest Oklahoma.
Jimmie married to Freda Lavern (Isom) on December 12, 1960, at Salina, KS. To this union nine children were born.
For many years he worked as a pipe welder wherever the job took him but for the past 25 years he has made his home in Velma, OK. He joined the Baptist Church as a young boy. He served his country in the US Army Corp. of Engineers from January 12, 1956 to December 23, 1957.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James; a grandson, Cody Roper; 3 brothers, Howard Jones, Kenneth Ray Jones and Bobby Darrell Jones; a sister, Katherine; a son-in-law, Van Bartlett.
Survivors include his wife, Freda, of the home. 8 Daughters and Sons-in-law, Pam & Alan York of Burleson, TX, Theresa & Troy Castor of Velma, OK, Leasa & Brent Anderson of Plains, KS, Angel & Scott Roper of Whitesboro, TX, Tina & Blaine Plummer of Woodward, OK, Julie & Bruce Price of Ringling, OK, Michelle & Shawn Farrar of Denton, TX, and Crystal & Bill Smith of Duncan, OK; 1 Brother and Sister-in-law, Billy & Dawn Jones of Woodward, OK; 1 Sister and Brother-in-law, Sandra & Jessy Waldroup of Woodward, OK; 24 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
