Millard Samuel "Mac" McChesney

US Veteran Millard "Mac" Samuel McChesney, Sterling, was born July 28, 1925 in Maryland to William and Mabel [McMillan] McChesney. He passed away July 1, 2016 at the age of 90.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00am in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Millard married Lillian M. Cressey on November 29, 1946; together they had 6 children.

Millard served in World War II as a Corpsman in the Navy and served as a medic.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked in a print shop and drove a taxi so Lillian could stay home and take care of the children.

Millard began his career as a pilot soon after. He joined the Civil Air Patrol and worked his way up to Lt. Colonel. He was a member of the AOPA. His career took him to join the civil service where he trained helicopter pilots in the simulators at Fort Sill. He was offered a position with the FTA in Miami, Florida, where he retired from in 1995.

Millard and Lillian returned to Sterling, OK to be close to the children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel McChesney; siblings: Norman, Bill, Florence, and Skeeter; daughter, Jeanne Dyke; and grandsons, Adam Travis and Stone Jordan.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lillian, of the home; five children; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.

He loved attending all of their events and loved spending time with his family.
