Luella "Lo" Hyla Ann [Frank] Crowl
Luella "Lu" Crowl, Lawton, was born November 20, 1935 in Beaver Crossing, NE to Henry and Augusta Frank. She died peacefully on March 26, 2015 at the age of 79.
She was raised in Lincoln, NE and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953.
Luella married Gilbert W. Crowl on December 27, 1953 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
They made their first home in El Paso, TX where Gilbert was stationed while in the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss. Before moving to Lawton/Ft. Sill, she lived in Huntsville, Alabama, Heidelberg Germany, Ft. Leavenworth, KS and the Washington D.C. area as her husband furthered his military career as an officer.
She worked as a medical transcriber for Dr. Eric Frische and the Lawton Orthopedic Center for 16 and 1/2 years.
She had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lawton since 1961. She served in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League for many years in several capacities.
Luella was also an active member of the Military Widows Association, Chapter 6, and had served as the chapter president.
Luella and Gilbert's marriage was blessed with 3 children: Barbara Stephan and husband Eric, Lake Havasu City, AZ, Cindy Elkins and husband John, Lawton, and Ken Crowl and wife Linda, Venice, Florida; 2 grandchildren: Johnny Elkins, Los Angeles, CA and Keith Elkins and wife, Aichia, Tucson, AZ; one great grandson, Anderson Elkins, Tucson; two step granddaughters, and five step great grandchildren. Luella has one surviving brother, Elroy Frank and wife Bobbi, Lincoln, one surviving sister Dorothy Ebner, Lincoln, sister-in-law Carol Peterson, Longmont, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, one sister Lillian Grasmick and one brother, Homer Frank, both of Lincoln, NE.
