October 2006 Margie Roenia [Attebery] Chambers Funeral for Margie Roenia Chambers, 87, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Chapel with the Rev. Don Barnes, pastor, First Assembly of God Church, and the Rev. Doyle Roark, First Assembly of God Church of Cordell, officiating. Mrs. Chambers died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at a local care center. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She was born June 17, 1919, in Wicks, Ark., to Douglas and Cora Lee Herring Attebery. She attended school in Wynnewood. She married Richard P. Chambers on Jan. 27, 1938, in Murfreesboro, Ark. They lived in Idabel until 1944, at which time they moved to Lawton. They were married for more than 51 years until Mr. Chambers died Feb. 26, 1989. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Chambers moved to Cordell, and lived there until she returned to Lawton in 2000. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Lawton. Survivors include a niece, Lee Fox, Lawton; a great-niece and husband, Janice and Chaunchey Baker and their children JaVaughn, Dante and Devonte, all of Lawton; one nephew, Ernest Darvin, Denver, Colo.; a stepson, Bill Chambers, Lawton; three stepdaughters: Janey Welborn, Lawton, Thelma McCaig, Duncan, and Mary Dean, Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Linda Stephens, Cordell; four grandchildren: Richard Stephens and wife, Jennifer, Wayne Stephens, Treena Ross, Renna Pollard and Jayden Holt; and seven great-grandchildren: Clay, Clint and Caden Stephens, Wayne Stephens Jr., Joseph Ross, Christina Pollard and Kenny Pollard. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons: Rodney E. Chambers and Sherman L. Stephens; her mother, Cora Lee Thornton; her father, Douglas Attebery; five sisters; and three brothers. |
