William Gilliam

November 18, 1937 - April 1, 2017

William T. Gilliam, Lawton, was born November 18, 1937 in Paradise Valley, OK to Tandy and Ruth Irene (Hood)Mohler. He was later adopted by James Gilliam. He passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the age of 79. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Arena Cowboy Church, Highway 58. Burial will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.
William was a very proud retired firefighter for the Lawton Fire Department. He coached little league football, baseball and basketball for over 30 years. Bill loved the outdoors; he enjoyed camping and fishing, riding motorcycles, gardening, and raising chickens and show pigeons. He loved his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He believed if he couldn’t take the kids the activity wasn’t worth doing, including going on dates. He is preceded in death by: His biological father, William Tandy Mohler, a sister, Beatrice Mohler, mother, Irene Gilliam and father, Jim Gilliam.
Survivors include his children, Rhonda Byrd and husband Cecil of Lawton; David Gilliam of Lawton, and Billy Gilliam of Oklahoma City; grandchildren: Heather and husband Matt of Portales, NM; Zack and fiancé Brittney of San Marcos, TX; Justin of San Angelo, TX, and Tandace of _Texas; honorary grandchildren: Brandon of Meers; Brittany and husband Toj of Elgin; Chip and wife Rose of Lawton; and Dusty and fiancé Jessica of Sterling; great-grandchildren: Madison, Makenzie, Hunter, Raylee, Ryder, Gatlin, Presley, Priscilla, Charlee, Stevee, Dustee, Katlynn, Dillan, Colesen, Quinsy and Becklee; very special friend, Delores; sister, Ivalou and husband Al; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, and numerous cousins.
