Was born June 13, 1927 in Ahpeatone, OK, located in Cotton County, to Oscar Manis and Ruby Ellen (Wampler) McCosh. She passed away suddenly on October 28th in Lawton, OK at the age of 89.
June graduated from Elgin High School in 1945, she was the last living member of her class. She attended Cameron University before going to work. She married Billy Robert Hewes on November 16, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX, he preceded her in death. She worked for the Comanche County Assessor's Office as an administrative assistant. June also worked for the Comanche County Treasurer's office and Comanche County Farm Bureau. She worked for the county election board actively registering voters in the rural areas. June was first, and foremost, a farmer and rancher. She raised wheat and hay, and cattle, taking care of her farm until the day she died.
June belonged to several organizations, often holding offices or serving on their boards. They include: Paradise Valley Home Demonstration Club, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, ASCOG Water and Soil Resources, VFW Post 5263, Lawton Pioneer Women. While her children were in school, June was very active in supporting their activities. June enjoyed painting. She would paint scenic canvasses of the Wichita Mountains and surrounding prairies and would often include her cattle in them. She even painted a mural on the wall at the VFW Post where she was a member. June was an avid gardener, and canned all the produce from her garden. She enjoyed going to the Apache Senior Nutrition Center, and on Thursdays, could be found at the Apache Sale Barn. She was a faithful, lifelong member of the Paradise Valley Baptist Church. June liked visiting with people, and easily made friends with many. She especially loved her family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1st at 10:30 A.M. at the Paradise Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Donny Crittendon officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home of Apache.
