Elaine Windham

September 21, 1942 - October 21, 2016

Elaine S. Windham, 74, of Lawton, OK went home to be with The Lord and join a Heavenly Family Reunion, Oct. 21, 2016, after valiantly battling Alzheimer's. She can be viewed at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral home in Lawton, Oct. 28th from 2pm-5pm. Her funeral will be Sat. Oct. 29th @ 12pm @ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7002 SW Drakestone Blvd Lawton OK. She will be buried at Letitia Cemetery, family only, 3:30pm.
She was born Beth Elaine Shawver 09-21-1942, in Garland, TX. She grew up mainly there, living in areas around Garland, then they moved to CO for 2 years, then returned. She graduated from Garland HS, then attended college in Denton, TX, where she was on the girl's bowling team/league. She was a telemarketer, and worked in a bank. She helped her brother and his wife in raising her niece, and was a beloved auntie "Nainey" to Monica. She married the love of her life, Glenn S. Windham, Apr. 9th, 1977 and they moved to Lawton, OK and lived on a farm east of town. They had one daughter, Mandy. Elaine then pursued her greatest calling and career of being a wonderful, loving Mom and housewife. She was an avid piano player, a terrific seamstress, and a true horsewoman. She loved horses, and grew up grooming quarter horses that her daddy raised. She knew their muscles & bodies so well, that she could draw the most life-like exceptionally beautiful horses. She canned all the vegetables they grew on the farm, east of Lawton. She was a 4-H leader for many years, and participated in her local ladies garden extension club. She worked for a jewelry company as a secretary, then Comfort Keepers and took care of the elderly after her husband passed in May, 1999. She was a loving, giving, kind Mima to Mandy's boys, she loved Blake and Shawn's boys as well. She is preceeded in death by her parents, James Worth and Evelyn Marie Shawver, her husband Glenn S. Windham, her best friend/sister Marty Almand, her brother, C.A. "Butch" Shawver and other ancestors. She leaves behind her daughter, Mandy Womack, son-in-law Lonnie Womack, grandsons Michael L. Womack, and Levi G. Womack, grand-dogs Bitsy and Dexter all of Lawton, OK, step-children Chad Windham, Blake Windham and Shawn Carr & their spouses Debbie and John all of TX. step-grandchildren Daniel & Samuel Windham, Marshall, Travis & Garrett Carr of TX. niece Monica Wilson and husband David of Cypress, TX, cousins Suzie Wilkinson and husband Kenny, Paula Baldwin & husband Jeff, & children Justin Morris, Dayton & Dylan Taylor, of TX, step-grandchildren Jon, Nick & Kelly Womack and wives Jamie and Dule, step-great grandchildren Evie, Bailey, Rowen, Jax, Lexi & Andromada (Dromi) all of FL & TX. And last but not least, best friend/sister since 3 yrs old, Elsie Suggs and her daughter Leslie & her 4 children of TX.
