Clinton Barnett

August 9, 1923 ~ June 1, 2018

Clinton Barnett, of Duncan, passed away in Lawton on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the age of 94. He was born on August 9, 1923, in Chickasha, to Bluford and Lou Ella Harmon Barnett.
Viewing will start on Monday, June 4, at 1:00 P.M. Family visitation is scheduled for that evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.
A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, at 10:00 A.M. at the Letitia Community Cemetery with Rev. Kevin McKinley and Rev. Ryan Sims officiating. Full military honors will be presented by the Stephens County Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home.
Clinton attended Hulen public schools. He joined the U.S. Army in February, 1943. He served during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He was given an honorable discharge in November, 1945. He married Violet Arnell Privett on January 19, 1946, in Lawton. They raised three children, Diana, Donna, and Dewayne.
He worked for 37 years at BP-Amoco, retiring in 1984. Clinton was a member of the Duncan Roundup Club, an avid fisherman and enjoyed going quail hunting. He was involved in building the bucking chutes at the Claude Gill Arena. He loved his grandchildren and being involved with all of their activities.
Clinton is survived by his children, Donna and husband Robert Satterlee of Chickasha, and Dewayne and wife Kelli Barnett of Duncan; grandchildren, Stephani Haslam, Amber and husband Damon Akers, and Abbie Jo Barnett; great grandchildren, Lauren Lasseter, Anna Kate Haslam, Nadia Haslam, Sasha Haslam, Kyler Akers, and Kaden Akers; and sisters, Lura Bradley and Novella and husband Harry Roberson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arnell; parents; daughter, Diana Gammill; grandsons, Eric Lasseter and Joel Austin Lasseter; brother, Clifford Barnett; and sisters, Lela Stephens and Alleen Kelling.
