Albert J. "Al" Rogers

Aged Lawton Berber Is Dead

An elderly character familiar on the streets of Lawton, was dead here today.

He was Al Rogers, 76, for the past 18 years a resident of this city. For years he operated a barber shop here and later worked for Frank Metcalf.

He saved a "nest egg" of a little more than $2,000 and went to Seminole early in the boom there to open a shop. However he lost it all when he was hit over the head and robbed in the oil town.

For several years he has been selling barber tools in Lawton.

A few days ago he was taken ill and Monday he was moved to the Southwestern hospital. But his condition was so weakened, he died a few hours later.

He has a brother, C. T. Rogers, at Orr, Okla.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning with Rev. J. T. Stephens in charge, and interment in Highland cemetery under the direction of Ritter's.
