Harlan Joe Pennington
Harlan Joe Pennington was born on July 8, 1936 in Albuququerque, New Mexico to Roy Abner and Aline Naomi [Kennedy] Pennington. He died on October 9, 2012 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 76.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Northwest Church of Christ with Mickey Cooper, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation is Scheduled for Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Whinery~Huddleston Funeral Home
Harlan was raised and attended school in the Post, TX area. He moved to Lubbock, TX following high school and in 1954 settled in San Angelo, TX where he married Wanda Hill in 1956.
Harlan worked in the retail glass business and through the years, managed glass stores in Del Rio, Laredo, Corpus Cristi and finally settled in Lawton in 1974 where he managed Avenue C Glass until his retirement in 2005.
His hobbies included horses, farming, beekeeping, racing homing pigeons and reading Louis L'Amour books.
Harlan was a long time member of the 9th and Main Church of Christ in San Angelo, TX, and a past member of Ambucs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Pennington
Survivors include his wife Wanda of the home; 2 daughters, Susan Engle and husband Charles of Cushing, OK, and Matadlen Jackson and husband Tony of Lawton; grandchildren, Ada Lysette Engle of Cushing, Misty Guillen and husband Joe of Los Angeles, CA, and Travis Jackson and wife Cathryn of Geronimo, OK, great grandchildren, Michaela, Jacob and Camille Guillen of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Wynona Caylor and husband Tommy of San Angelo, TX, several nieces and nephews and many longtime friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in Harlan's memory to the Northwest Church of Christ Building Fund or Faith Hospice
