© Whinery~Huddleston Funeral Service Lawton, Oklahoma Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008 Thelma Jean [Alexander] Bowles Funeral for Thelma Jean Bowles, 74, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Walter Wilson officiating. Mrs. Bowles died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, in Lawton. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. She was born March 20, 1934, in Colgate, to the Rev. Tom and Nettie Bell Walker Alexander. She attended school in Colgate and Altus. She was a cook at Nite Owl Cafe and at Lee's Cafe for many years before retiring. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Garfield W. Bowles, Lawton; a daughter, Sandra Alexander, Lawton; eight grandchildren: Shannon, Tiffany and Larry Alexander, all of Lawton; Travis Bowles, Baltimore, Md.; Tommy Alexander and McKenzie Alexander, both of Huntsville, Ala.; and Reginal Alexander and Angelo Alexander, both of Washington, D.C.; a brother, the Rev. Leonard Alexander, Lawton; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tommy J. Alexander; eight sisters: Joyce, Loretta, Naomi, Lucille, Florida, Odiss, Margie and Pansy and two brothers: Cleston and Cleveland Alexander. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. |
