Sgt Lawrence "Larry" Wilson

SFC Ret Lawrence "Larry" Wilson, of Lawton, was born May 11, 1945 in Woodville, Mississippi to Sam and Edna [Carter] Wilson. He passed away at a local hospital on July 30, 2015 at the age of 70.

A Wake will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 6-8pm at Whinery-Huddleston funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00am at First Baptist Church 501 SW B Ave Lawton, OK 73501.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Sill Post Cemetery, Fort Sill.

Larry grew up in Woodville, Mississippi. He was the third of eleven children.

After graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in the Army Corps of Engineers for 20½ years before retiring.

While in the military he served a tour in Vietnam, a tour in Korea, 3 tours in Germany, and a tour in Panama, where he met and fell in love with Eufelia Chacha; they were married there in 1968.

After his retirement from the Army, Larry worked for Comanche County District 3 West in Cache, OK, where he worked until his second retirement. He had many skills and was a great mechanic.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and cooking. He was famous for his BBQ.

Larry was a caring and compassionate man who was very accepting of everyone. He never met a person he didn't like and would help anyone in need.

He was a member of the Lawton First Church of the Nazarene.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Edna; three brothers, Woodrow Wilson, Joseph Wilson, and Samuel "Sonny Boo" Wilson; one sister, Myrtis Wilson.

Larry leaves to cherish loving memories and the joyous blessings of his love and devotion a loving wife, Eufelia, of the home; his children: Jose Wilson and wife, Laverne, and their son, Christopher, all of Albuquerque, NM; Lawrence B. Wilson of Lawton; Antonio O. Wilson of Houston, TX; Lukiiko A. Wilson of Lawton; Angelica M. Wilson of Lawton; David J. Wilson and his children, Hailee, Haiden, and Hunter, all of Lawton; and Deborah N. Wilson of Oregon; sisters, Christine Earls and husband George, Bertha L. Jones, and Linda Green and husband Henry; brothers, Arthur L Wilson and wife Bobbie, Hard Wilson and wife Leasic, and Thomas Wilson and wife Deveta, Sisters-In-Law, Dorothy Wilson, and Beverly Wilson, and Like Brother-In-Law, John Hendricks. He also leaves to cherish his memory numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
