Matthew Patrick Grimes, 20, Lawton, was born February 16, 1994 in Fort Carson, CO to Benerval and Margaret [Byrd]Grimes. He died at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City on June 20, 2014.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 9am-8pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 12:00pm in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel. Burial will follow at Post Cemetery, Ft. Sill at 2:00pm.
Matthew attended Lawton High School and Geronimo High School. He enjoyed playing baseball, football, skateboarding, and doing anything outdoors. He was a Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Phillies fan.
Matthew was kind-hearted and loved helping people. He will be remembered for his great smile and smooth-talking ways. Survivors include his parents, Benerval and Margaret; sisters, Sarah Grimes of Springdale, AR and Leah Grimes of Chickasha; his girlfriend, Kearstin Palmer of Geronimo; grandma, Sophia West of Killeen, TX; grandfather, Benerval Grimes, Sr. of Williamsport, PA. He also has numerous family and extended family members in Colorado, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma and a host of friends.
