Jimmie Ray Burba

Birth date: June 25, 1938
Death date: January 8, 2013

Jimmie Ray Burba was born June 25, 1938 in Manitou, Oklahoma to Ralph and Eleta [Whitaker] Burba. He died on January 8, 2013 at a local nursing home in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 74. Service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Whinery Huddleston Funeral Chapel with DAV Chaplin Dave Capri, and Les Banks of Indiahoma, OK officiating. Burial will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home.

Jimmie was born and raised and attended School in Manitou, Oklahoma. He enlisted into the Army in 1954 where he enjoyed a successful career. He had two tours in Vietnam, was also assigned to numerous state side posts including the Pentagon, and other overseas assignments including Germany, and Korea. He received many awards throughout his military service which included the Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with Sixth Award, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge Rifle M-14. After his retirement from the Army he worked for Danguard Security, and later worked with family members custom harvesting. Just before joining the Army he married Janie Rothell and to this union two children were born; Maurice and Kathleen. In 1964 he married Anna Koukal in Germany; and to this union two children, Susi and Sabine, were born. He loved to fish and hunt but most of all he loved to listen to old time country music. He is preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Billy Burba, and two wives, Nadine, and Nedra.

He is survived by his one son, Maurice and wife Jeannie, Oklahoma; three daughters, Kathleen Nation and husband David, of Frederick, OK, Susi Shipp and husband Harold, of Lawton, OK, Sabine Mowry and husband Jeff, of Lawton, OK; one brother, Casey Waller, of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Brenda Patterson, of Lawton, OK, Lisa Bilyea and husband Rick, of Fort Worth, TX; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. He had many nieces, nephews, cousins; also included are many extended family members and friends.Visitation:
