Nathaniel Poston

December 28, 1944 - December 05, 2017

Nathaniel Poston Sr. of Lawton, Oklahoma was born on December 28, 1944. His home going was December 5, 2017.
He graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He also received the rest of his education through the military where he server 20 years. In the military he served as a food service specialist. He also received the Army Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (where he held point for 3 months), Overseas Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Bars 2, Southwest Asia Service Medal 2, Bronze Service Stars, Saudi Arabia, Liberation of Kuwait Medal, and Rifle M-16 Expert Qualification Badge.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served faithfully until his illness would not allow him to do so, He served on the quarterly New Letter and Entertainment committee. Although a native of Cleveland he retired in Lawton in 1992. He saw a lot of the world during his military time and Germany was his favorite spot. He loved cartoons (Tom and Jerry) and was an avid Volks Marcher.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Carolyn of the home, daughters ShyVonne Gilmore of Cleveland, Ohio and Veronica Dabbs (Michael) of Lawton, Oklahoma, sons Nathaniel Poston, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio and Scott Wilson of Lawton, Oklahoma, sisters Karletta Edwards and Denise Hanson, brother David Hanson all of Cleveland, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Nate was especially grateful for the love, support and many phone calls to him by his grandson Douglas Gilmore during his illness.
Nate was preceded in death by his loving parents Harriet Robinson and James Poston.
