Chickasha, Oklahoma Thursday, April 4, 2013 Henry Woods, Jr. Henry Woods, Jr., or "Snake", as Most of us knew him, was born on March 28, 1950 in Perry, OK to Henry Sr. and Rosie Mae [Brewer] Woods. He died on April 4, 2013 after a short illness. Henry spent his early childhood in Perry, OK before moving to Lawton where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1968. While in school he lettered in basketball and track, and continued playing basketball in college.Henry entered the US Army in 1970 and served 13 months in Vietnam prior to his honorable discharge in 1972. He returned to Oklahoma where he married Gloria Blackmon and worked at Joe's Tire Company and the Sheridan Hilton in Oklahoma City. Henry also worked on several articles published in the Final Call News. His hobbies included playing basketball and dressing up to go dancing. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Damon Woods; 2 sisters, Betty Ashford and Willma Pettiford; a nieces, Carylon Wright; 2 great nieces, Krystal and Garnisha Woods; and a great great nephew, Brandon Brewer. Survivors left to cherish his memory include 2 daughters, Stephanie and Aricka Blackmon of Oklahoma City; a sister, Mary Parks of Texas; one brother, James Brewer; 5 nieces, Sandra Mingo of Taft, OK, Janet "Pinky" Ford of Lawron, and Sheretta, Charlee Sawyer and Beverly Brewer, all in Texas; 4 nephews, Michael, Larry and Carl Brewer in Texas, and Daniel Carr and his wife Cindy in Oklahoma City; 8 grandchildren, and numerous great nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
