Alonzo "Kieth" Trammell

Alonzo "Kieth" Trammell passed away February 12, 2011. He was born October 21, 1921 in Cyril, OK to Lonzo and Sarah Trammell.

Kieth served in the U.S. Army during WW II and continued his service in the Reserves. Kieth was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College of the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Pacific Service Medal, American Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal/Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Independence Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Asiastic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Occupation of Japan Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve 20 Year Medal. He retired as a Lt. Colonel.

He met and married Hazel Parks May 22, 1946. They lived in Duncan, OK until 1950, and then moved to Albuquerque, NM where he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission. They moved to California where they lived in both southern and northern California. He was an Aerospace Engineer and worked on many satellites and ground stations, at Cape Canaveral, and helped design the Houston Space Center.

He was an avid Ham radio operator. He helped with communications for the Forestry Department, the Coast Guard, and many fundraising walks, runs, etc. They moved to Guthrie, OK in 2003.

He never knew a stranger, made friends quickly, and loved to tell stories. He will be missed my many.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Hazel; his daughters Elayne Sinon and husband Jon and Anita Trammell and husband John all of Guthrie; his brother Mordell Trammell of Duncan, OK; and his sister Veldonna Woodard of Guthrie.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Smith Memorial Chapel with Dr. Larry Stevens of Noble Avenue Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
