Lawton, Oklahoma June 22, 2014 Kenneth William "Shep" Thornton Dates: Birth date: March 26, 1932 Death date: June 22, 2014 Kenneth "Shep" Thornton, 82, of Duncan, was born March 26, 1932 in Grandfield, OK to Emmett and Agnes (Latham) Thornton. He died at a Duncan care facility on June 26, 2014. Kenneth went to school at Central High. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army. He served three years with Company E, 22nd Infantry, 3rd Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Kenneth began working as a welder for Halliburton. He was transferred to the Mechanic Research Department where he worked as a researcher until his retirement. He married Dorris Wilkerson on March 7, 1964 in Duncan. In his free time, Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to flea markets, garage sales and estate sales with his wife. They enjoyed having breakfast and coffee with friends each morning. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Agnes Thornton; and a son, Larry Thornton. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorris, of the home; son, Tony Thornton of Duncan; daughters, Sharlet Kennedy and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NV and Sherry Dennis and husband Bruce of Marlow; grandchildren, Patty Bower of Las Vegas, NV, Sonny Tims of Los Angeles, CA, Melissa Stevenson of Duncan, April Mouma of Chickasha and Meagan Dennis of Okeene, OK; great-grandchildren, Vance and Elliott Bower of Las Vegas, NV, Yannah Morgan of Duncan; Reef Stevenson of Duncan, Aidan Tims of Los Angeles, CA and Jared and Sean Mouma, both of Chickasha.
