Lawton, Oklahoma 14 & 15 April 2009 Deborah Stewart Born: July 10, 1955 Died: September 02, 2015 Funeral for Debbie Stewart will be at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 9:00 AM. Debbie passed away Wednesday, September 2. Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery following the service. Debbie was born on July 10, 1955 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Russell and Laura Goad Cannon. She grew up on military bases around the country, Graduating from Eisenhower Sr High School in 1973. After 2 years at Cameron University she moved to California for a brief time. Returning to Lawton she met and married SGT Larry Wayne Stewart on January 15, 1982. That fall they moved to Wurzburg, Germany. After their 3 year tour, loving it (and Karl's Bratwurst) so much, they extended for 3 more years. She was employed as a Secretary, first at Fort Sill Transportation, then in Germany as a Legal Clerk for the Provost Marshall, Registration Office at the American Elementary School and finally Chief Administrator for the Division Commander, 3rd Inf Div. She was thus employed until a major stroke in 1988 forced her medical retirement. She was an active member of St Paul's United Methodist Church having served in various positions in the United Methodist Women's Group and Sarah's Circle, Chaired the Church Ministries Committee and served for many years as the Card Ministries part of Congregational Care, writing hundreds of birthday cards over several years until carpal tunnel forced her to stop. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, India Shrine Temple and supported the Lawton Fort Sill Oriental Band as one the "Band Ladies". Her hobbies included floral arranging, scrapbooking and all things Victorian. She loved making their home a special place with her decorating talents. Debbie is survived by her husband Larry, father Russell of Lawton and sister Trish (Lee) Butcher and niece Tiffani of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves behind 2 stepsons Larry Edward Stewart (Amanda) of Houston, Texas, Jimmy Wayne (Andrea) Stewart of Menifee, Arkansas and a step -daughter Amanda (Josh) Bradshaw of Bella Vista, Arkansas and 11 step grandchildren. Nathaniel Robinson, Haven Stewart, Calli Gipson, Macy Stewart, Tanner Stewart, Caitlyn Stewart, Erica Stewart, Alison Stewart, Meckenzie Weaver, Cassie Weaver and Abbigail Bradshaw. She was looking forward to the first Great grandbaby in December. She was preceded in death by her mother Laura and 4 "furbabies" Flo, Whiskers, Emmie and Zoe. Special viewing and visitation will be at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
