Chickasha, Oklahoma Monday, 3 August 2009 Bobby Gene "BG" Rutherford Bobby Gene "BG" Rutherford was born on September 21, 1929 in Lebanon, OK to Stanley E. and Jessie Lee [Cole] Rutherford. He died with his family at his side on July 31, 2009 in Lawton, OK at the age of 79. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, August 3, 2009 in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft Sill National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Viewing is scheduled for 1:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the funeral home. Mr. Rutherford was raised and attended school in Oklahoma. He joined the Army Air Corps at the age of 17 and served 2 tours of duty with the occupational forces in Germany. Mr. Rutherford was Honorably Discharged from the Air Corps in September, 1953, and re-enlisted in the US Army in December that same year. Mr. Rutherford retired in 1966 with 20 years of service to his country including 4 tours of duty overseas. The Rutherfords settled in Elgin, OK and owned several businesses prior to his retirement. Bob married Natalie "Lee" Richards on September 21, 2002. He was active in several civic and fraternal organizations including the VFW, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 213, past-Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge #94 in Chickasha, a volunteer at Comanche County Memorial Hospital and a member of Letitia Baptist Church. His hobbies included dancing with his wife and best friend Lee, having coffee and playing dominoes with friends and family, working crossword puzzles or just "cutting up" with his brother or sisters and friends. Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Dean Rutherford. Survivors include his wife Lee of the home; 6 Daughters and sons-in-law: Regenia and Ray Weger, Beverly and Craig LaRoche, Paula and Mike Patterson, all of Lawton; June and John Benderman of East Alton, IL; Cleffie and Larry Schoolfield, Lawton; and Constance Ingram of Midwest City; 15 beautiful grandchildren who he loved dearly; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Frankie Bennett and Polly Pruitt, all of Whitesboro, TX, and Betty and Carl Chaney of Grandbury, TX; one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Linda Rutherford of Weatherford, TX. He was cherished and adored by his 25 great grandchildren, and also leaves many special cousins, nieces and nephews he held close to his heart.
