Lawton, Oklahoma October 13, 2014 Billy Roper was born July 30, 1952 in Corona, California to Loretha and Ray Roper. He passed away October 13, 2014 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 13 days. Billy attended school at Thomas, Oklahoma where he was a member of the 1969 State Champion Thomas Terrier Football Team. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam. Billy was stationed at Shepherd Air Force in Wichita Falls, TX and Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Oklahoma. After his discharge, he worked at Wal-Mart in El Reno until his health forced him to retire 2009. Billy made his home at Cedar Lake near Hinton, Oklahoma and he spent his time fishing with his brother, Mike, and riding his golf cart around the lake. Billy was a member of the Lawton Church of the Nazarene where he played on the church softball team. He is survived by his 1 son, Robert, Cedar Lake, OK; his parents, Ray and Loretha Roper, Sayre, OK; 1 brother, Mike Roper, Cedar Lake, OK; a special lifelong friend, Reba Rochelle, Lawton, OK and a host of family and friends. Graveside Services will be held October 16, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Ft. Sill National Cemetery officiated by Rusty McMullen. Burial will be at Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com |
