Lawton, Oklahoma Tuesday, November 19, 2013 Joseph M. Lockovich Dates: Birth date: May 11, 1943 Death date: November 9, 2013 Joseph Michael Lockovich was born May 11, 1943 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Helen [Klaich] and James E Lockovich. He died at his home with family at his side on November 9, 2013 in Marlow, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years 5 months and 28 days. Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Peter Jandaczek. Inurnment will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, under the direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. He attended the local schools in Sharon, PA. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U S Army where he served for twenty-three years. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the supply branch. During his illustrious career he received many honors and awards including: the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal eighth award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Development Ribbon-three, Army Service, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Two Over Seas Service Bars, Expert Rifle M-16. The award he was most proud of was his induction into the Order of Saint Barbara; his certificate and medal are proudly displayed in his home. He served one combat tour in Vietnam. He also served in other overseas assignments to include Germany and Korea, and numerous stateside assignments, including Fort Sill. After his military retirement he attended Great Plains Technology Center to become a plumber while working at the Lawtonian at night. He was recommended to apply at the Post Office and later became a letter carrier; the height of his career as a letter carrier was when he was given a route on Fort Sill. He retired for the second time from the Post Office after fifteen years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Marie Ford; both parents, James and Helen Lockovich. Joseph is survived by his wife, Cheryl of forty-five years; two sons, Joseph James Lockovich and his wife Kelly, of Charlotte, NC and Brian Anthony Lockovich and his fiancee Kristin McSpedon of Plano, TX; son-in-law, Mike Ford and his wife Bridget; four grandchildren, Brianna Lockovich, of Charlotte, NC, Gabrielle Lockovich, of Charlotte, NC, Ryan Ford, of Marlow, OK, Jaxon Eubanks, of Marlow, OK; three brothers, Bill Lockovich and his wife Bette Jo, of Hermitage, PA, Robert Lockovich and his wife Shelley, of Placentia, CA, Richard Lockovich and his fiancee, Linda Wheaton, of Farrell, PA; one sister, Sandy Moyer and her husband, Tom of Sharpsville, PA. He also has many loving family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
