Purcell, Oklahoma July 9, 2015 David L. Lawton David L. Lawton age 81 of Tuttle, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 4, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA. He was the 2nd child of four children born to Lloyd Lawton and Gladys Giles. David grew up in Heber City, Utah and graduated from Wasatch high school in 1952. Nine months later on Feb. 14, 1953, David married the love of his life, Carole Marie Davis. In 1954, David enlisted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for two years during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the service, he attended four years of schooling at BYU. Then in 1958 he started working for the Government as an Air Traffic Controller in Salt Lake City. For the next 30 years he and his family had lived in various cities throughout the United States. David and Carole together raised six children. They moved to Bridge Creek, OK in 1987, then in 1990 they bought a home NE of Tuttle, where they live today. David had many talents and many hobbies throughout his life. He was a rock hound, he loved collecting and polishing rocks. He loved being outdoors and was an avid runner, running in many marathons. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, snow skiing and hiking. He enjoyed flying and was a pilot of small engine aircraft. He played the piano and was faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he had served as Bishop and as a Stake President. He was preceded in death by: Parents, Lloyd and Gladys Lawton; Infant brother, Leon Lawton; Great granddaughter, Addison Taylor. He is survived by: Wife, Carole of the home; Four sons, Doug Lawton and wife Joyce of Heber City, Utah, Keith Lawton and wife Cheryl of Heber City, Utah, Lynn Lawton and wife Vickie of Charleston, SC, Glen Lawton and wife Tia of Topeka, KS; Two daughters, Linda Martinez and husband Edgar of Tuttle, Laura Cravens and husband Michael of Tuttle; One brother, Bert Lawton and wife Michelyn of Heber, City, Utah; One sister, Nancy Cummings and husband Russell of Heber City Utah; 29 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in Moore, OK. Interment will be 2:00P.M. Tuesday at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, July 13, at Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri City Ave in Newcastle, OK. |
