Elmer "Glen" Henson

Funeral services for Elmer "Glen" Henson, 79, Lawton, Oklahoma, were held Friday, February 4, 2011 in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial with full military honors was held at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of Becker Funeral Home.

Elmer Glenn Henson was born April 20, 1931 in Reydon, Oklahoma to Elmer Greer and Maudie Marinda [Isch] Henson. He passed away January 27, 2011 at his home in Lawton, Oklahoma. He joined the Army in 1949 and served until August of 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Commendation medal w/60 Device and the Bonze Star Medal. He married Lena Cummins in Lampass, Texas on July 3, 1957. After his retirement he worked as a machinist at Ben Leva Automotive. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Glynna Carman of Lawton and Leslie Swanson of Killeen, Texas; a son, Edward Ritter of California; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Dale Henson and wife Betty of Hereford, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four children, David, Timothy, Bobby and Dolores, and three sisters, Bessie, Bobbie and Gladys.
