Newcastle, Oklahoma May 21, 2014 Ola Frances [Perdue] Halstead Birth date: December 12, 1946 Death date: May 21, 2014 Ola Frances "Fran" [Perdue] Halstead, age 67 of Newcastle went home to be with her Lord, May 21, 2014 in Clyde, North Carolina. Fran was on a motorcycle trip across the country with "Carry the Flame", headed for Washington, D.C. at the time of the accident. Fran was born December 12, 1946 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of three children and the only daughter born to Willie Alva Perdue and Lucille [Newsom] Perdue. In her younger years her family lived in Verden, Dibble and Washington, Oklahoma. During her high school years she attended the Newcastle schools where she later graduated with the class of 1965. Later that same year, she married Tommy Plumlee and together they raised three children, Dennis, LaRhesa and Robert. Fran worked hard as a homemaker and had various jobs while her children were growing up. Her most recent job was working for Walmart where she worked for many years before she retired. Fran was a longtime resident of Newcastle and a part-time resident of the open road. She was a member of the Newcastle First Baptist Church, a member of the Faith Riders Class and a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Fran married William Leroy Halstead on July 5, 2005. Together they enjoyed spending countless hours serving others and going on motorcycle runs to raise money for those in need. She loved vacations across the United States, especially on the back of motorcycle of her husband. Fran was a loving and caring person who enjoyed family gathering and spoiling her grandkids. She was preceded in death by: Parents, Willie and Lucille Perdue; Brother, Dwain Perdue. She is survived by: Husband, Leroy Halstead of the home in Newcastle; Three children, Dennis Plumlee and wife Kimberly of Moore, OK, LaRhesa Burk and husband Scott of Newcastle, Robert Plumlee and wife Aimee of Moore; One brother, Gene Perdue and wife Colleen of OKC; Six grandchildren, Shelby Burk, Teri Burk, Thomas Hill, Carrie Plumlee, Tyler Plumlee and Brandon Plumlee; Also several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and motorcycle family. Fran will be laid to rest at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK. Memorial Services will follow at 2:30 P.M., June 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to "Faith Riders", c/o Newcastle First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 299, Newcastle, OK. 73065. Funeral arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle. |
