Robert "Bob" Einfeldt Robert "Bob" B., 85, a resident of Oklahoma City was welcomed into Eternal Life on March 3, 2009. He was born May 9, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Herbert B. & Hazel [Pilgrim] Einfeldt. On July 5, 1947, Bob married Evelyn B. Urich in St. Paul, Minnesota and together they shared more than 58 years of wonderful marriage and raising their 2 daughters, Sharon & Barbara Bob graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1941. He attended the University of Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota majoring in the field of mechanical engineering. Bob was instrumental in the development of computers and co-founded the Control Data Corporation, later known as Magnetic Peripherals Inc. and as Seagate Corporation. Proudly serving his country in the US Navy during WWII, he was stationed in Dayton Ohio USNCML and Washington D.C. He worked in the communications annex on the "Ultra Project" breaking German and Japanese Codes. Bob was recognized for his achievement in assisting with the transportation of the BOMBE [Enigma], a machine that was used to decode German and Japanese transmissions. Sworn to silence, Bob and other code breakers have only been able to discuss their experiences since 1983 when the information was declassified. A devoted and loving husband, father & grandfather, Bob dedicated his life to serving his family, Lord, Country and others. He led an exemplary life, leaving last impressions with everyone he met. Bob loved to travel and meet people. Prior to retirement he and Evelyn lived abroad in the United Kingdom for several years. He established Data Recording Ltd. in England and Beijing, China. During this time he traveled much of the world. Upon his return to the United States, Bob served as the interim City Manager of Blanchard, Oklahoma. He owned a machine shop where he proudly assisted the Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police in constructing hand operated tricycles for children with Spina Bifida. He also repaired parts for local farmers and merchants in the area. He was devoted brother to the ancient free and accepted masons Cataract Lodge No. 2 of Minnesota, the Shriners Cycle Corps of Minnesota, U.S. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association, the American Legion, The Crescent Society, United Methodist Men, the Wisemen, the National Chief Petty Officers Association and The Lions club of Blanchard, OK. Bob is now reunited with his parents, and wife Evelyn. Bob leaves wonderful memories with daughters, Sharon Ellen Fisher and Barbara A. Shannon & husband, Donald of MWC grandchildren, Robert L. Lewis, Johnna Gooch and great grandson, Marshall Mason numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and many special friends. Services to celebrate his life will be 11:00 AM, Friday, March 6, 2009, at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK. The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurse at Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospice and the staff at Bellevue Health Care Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Minnesota Masonic Charities, 11561 Masonic Home Drive, Bloomington, MN 55437 or the U.S. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association. |
