Evelyn B. [Urich] Einfeldt

Evelyn B. Einfeldt, 84, a resident of Oklahoma City since 1976, was welcomed into Eternal Life and the loving arms of her Lord on April 24 2006.

She was born Feb. 26, 1922 in Iola, KS to Alva A. & Barbara [Goodner] Urich.

On July 5, 1947, Evelyn married Robert Bernard Einfeldt in St. Paul, Minnesota and together they shared more than 58 years of wonderful marriage and raising their 2 daughters, Sharon & Barbara.

Proudly serving her country in the US Navy during WWII, she was one of 67 Waves involved in the Operation Magic. Evelyn was recognized for her achievement in assisting with the assembly of the BOMBE [Enigma], a machine that was used to decode German and Japanese transmissions. Sworn to silence, Evelyn and other code breakers have only been able to discuss their experiences since 1983, when the information was declassified.

A devoted and loving wife, mother & grandmother, Evelyn dedicated her life to serving her family, Lord, country and others. She led an exemplary life, leaving last impressions with everyone she met.

She joined the Sooner WAVES in 1988 and was honored as the 1996 Oklahoma Female Veteran of the Year.

Evelyn loved to travel and meet people. Prior to retirement, she and Robert lived abroad in the United Kingdom for several years. During this time, she traveled much of the world.

She was a devoted sister to PEO - Chapter FL, a charter member in Women Military Service for America, WAVES National, U.S. Naval Cryptologic Association, Women's Veteran Organization, Sooner Waves, The Crescent Society, United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Camp Fire Girls, Boy Scouts, Torrance Memorial Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary, Torrance, CA, Dupont Avenue Sewing Club, Minneapolis, Minnesota and numerous Gardens clubs.

Evelyn is now reunited with her parents; sister, Alma Adams; and 2 brothers: Jay & Johnny Wiley.

Evelyn leaves wonderful memories with her devoted husband, Robert B. Einfeldt of OKC; Daughters: Sharon Ellen Fisher & husband, Mike of OKC and Barbara A. Shannon & husband, Donald of MWC; Brother, Herbert Earl Wiley of Conway, AR; Sisters: Eva Jean French of OKC and Mary Ellen Jedicke of Roosevelt, AZ; and 2 Grandchildren: Robert L. Lewis & Johnna Gooch.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Women's Veterans Organization-Oklahoma or the WAVES National.

Services to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Pavilion at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
