Lawton Oklahoma April 12, 2015 Birth date: April 21, 1943 Death date: April 12, 2015 Ms. Childers went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Christel was born April 21st, 1943 to Joseph and Barbara [Hettinger] Syndikus. She was a good cook of German food and also loved making Christmas cookies. A homemaker at heart, Christel prepared three meals a day for her family. She was very organized and had her children make their beds military inspection ready. Ms. Childers sewed, did ceramics and macrame. A ritual for her was to visit Olive Garden, often both for lunch and dinner in the same day, if only to have a cup of cappuccino. Christel enjoyed the outdoors, especially walking. She was a member of the Christian Center for many years. Survivors include two sons, Danny Childers and wife Susan of Lawton, and Michael Childers of Odessa, TX; a daughter Carmen Korynta and husband Chris of Conway, AR; grandchildren, John-Michael Childers, Thomas Childers, Lori Fisher, Cathy Livengood, Bailey Cruz, and Hailey Cruz; twelve great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marga Sajulta, Emilie Syndikus, and Marika Keim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Childers, a brother, Armon Sydikus, and two sisters, Reinhilde Staetmuller and Elsa Sydikus.
