Lawton, Oklahoma October 6, 2016 SFC (ret) Kelly Joseph Cefalu, Sr was born October 24, 1929 in Hammond, Louisiana to Joseph and Christine Cefalu. He went to his heavenly home on October 6, 2016 in Lawton at the age of 86. Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Services. Kelly enlisted in the United States Army in 1951. He proudly served his country for 20 years before retiring. During his military career he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Cefalu had numerous awards and medals that included: Bronze Star Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with Seven Service Stars; Korean Service Medal with Two Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; United Nations Service Medal with One Service Star; Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster; and the Good Conduct Medal with Sixth Award. After his retirement from the military, Kelly went to work for Lawton Public Schools, where he worked until final retirement. In his spare time, he loved to fish and work in his garden. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, father, and brother. He will be leaving behind a legacy of integrity, honesty, and humility. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; son, Donnie Parker of Texarkana, Arkansas; son, Kelly Cefalu, Jr of Lawton; son, Frank Cefalu of California; daughter, Christine Cefalu of Austin, Texas; daughter, Tasha Cefalu of Duncan; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Rogers of Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings: Florence Holmes, Anthony Cefalu, Jessie Cefalu-Knight; Mary Cefalu-McMillan; and Josie Cefalu-Adcox. |
