Lawton, Oklahoma December 12, 2012 Leroy Hal Britton Leroy Hal Britton was born December 11, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Duke and Luella [Massey] Britton. He died December 12, 2012 at a local hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 71. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 17, 2012, with full military honors at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma, Army Chaplin will officiate. Friends may visit with the family 4-6 pm, Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the funeral home. Leroy was raised in Lawton and attended Lawton High School. He entered the Air Force during the Viet Nam era in 1963; he served one tour in Vietnam where he worked on the flight line refueling aircraft. After retiring from the Air Force he went to work for the Lawton Country Club where he worked as a greens keeper until his health made him retire for the second time. When he wasn't working on the golf course he was playing on it, and if you couldn't find him there you could find him on one of the local lakes fishing. He also had an impressive coin collection. He met Cheryl Jacobs at Mac's drive inn, he knew he was going to marry her that very night because she had been in his dreams; they were married in Lawton on May 24, 1963. They would have been married 50 years this next May. He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Gary Britton, and Danny Britton; two sisters, Annie Schaffer, and Carolyn.Cheryl JacobsHe is survived by his wife, Cheryl Britton, of the home; two sons, David Britton and wife Karen, of El Paso, TX, and Darrell Britton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Cindy McCorkle and husband Robert, Trinidad, CO; five grandchildren, Taylynne Britton, and Jacob Britton, both of El Paso, TX, Ashely Deringer, Trinidad, CO, Amanda Deringer, Trinidad, CO, Skyler McCorkle, Trinidad, CO; three Brothers, Loren Ray Britton and wife, Texas, Robert Britton and wife, Lawton, OK, Johnny Britton, Lawton, OK; one sister, Jorita Shope, Lawton, OK.
