Robert Charles Whitaker

July 11, 1949 - April 20, 2026

Robert C. Whitaker, 76, of Lawton, OK went to his heavenly home on April 20, 2026. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
He was born in Herkimer, NY, to Alton and Ruth C. (Collins) Whitaker on July 11, 1949. On December 16, 1971, he became a Christian while serving in the US Navy on the USS Constellation in Vietnam. He was baptized by immersion in the Subic Bay, Philippines.
He graduated from Gouverneur High School, Gouverneur, NY in 1967. He graduated from Linda Vista Baptist Bible College and Seminary in El Cajon, California in 1976 with a double major in Bible and Christian Education.
He served in the US Navy for four years. He worked in the Zinc mines in Balmat, NY for 19 years as a miner then as an underground plant electrician. He was a bi-vocational pastor of Stone Rd. Baptist Church in Harrisville, NY for almost 18 years. He was the Principal of Canton Christian Academy, Canton, NY from 1979-1982. He was an electrician at Ft. Sill, OK from 2001-2018.
He married the love of his life and best friend, Jacky Davis on February 14, 1974 in Chula Vista, California. They were blessed with four children.
He is survived by his wife Jacky Whitaker (Lawton, Ok). Children, Tricia Holt and husband Dustin, Robert Whitaker Jr. and wife Jennifer, Daniel Whitaker and wife Ashleen, and Frederick Whitaker and wife Stephanie; 14 grandchildren, Nicolena Lopez and husband Eric, James Meola III, Kayla Ciamba and husband Nicholas, Joshua Meola and wife Addiley, Zachary, Jacob, Brianna, Benjamin, Emilee, Ashton, Grayson, Robert Ray, Larissa Whitaker and Leah Harjo. Seven great grandchildren; Ana, Sofia, Maya Lopez, Vincenzo, Noah, Leo Ciambra and Montgomery Meola, Brother Richard Whitaker and Father in Law Jack Davis.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Alton and Ruth Whitaker and his brother William Whitaker.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 27th at 10:00 am at Christ Fellowship Church, Lawton, Ok.
Graveside service will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery Elgin, OK at 1:00 p.m..
