Gloyd Max Vinson

April 3, 1952 - May 26, 2023

Gloyd Vinson age 71 of Lexington, passed away on May 26, 2023. Gloyd Max Vinson was born on April 3, 1952 in Norman, OK to Elmer Cletis Vinson and Eva Augusta Vinson (Rhiems). Gloyd grew up in Lexington and graduated with the Bulldog class of 1971. He joined the United States Army after finishing school and proudly served during the Vietnam War. He spent most of his working years in the maintenance field putting his handy man skills to work at places like Big Red Sports and Riverwind Casino. Gloyd lost both his parents when he was 19 which gave him a strong independent spirit that served him well in life. He was a simple man who enjoyed the outdoors-hunting, fishing, and shooting guns. He loved watching old westerns and war movies. Gloyd was a serious history buff and even taught history when he was enlisted in the Army. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa and friend who will be dearly missed.
Gloyd was preceded in death by, his parents Elmer and Eva Vinson.
He is survived by his wife Mamie Vinson of the home. His children Jason Vinson of Wayne, OK, Brian Vinson of Texas, Eddie Burton of Kellyville, OK, Krista Moles of OKC, and Amy Yout of Purcell, OK. His siblings, Jack Vinson of Wanette, OK, Vera Elledge of Norman, OK and Kathy Vinson of St. Louis, MO. Gloyd also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Gloyd will be laid to rest at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK on Tuesday June 6th, 2023 at 1:00 P.M.
