Ruben Vela, Sr.

September 8, 1952 ~ August 20, 2006

Ruben Vela, Sr. was born September 8, 1952 in Robstown, Texas to Juana and Manuel Vela. He passed away August 20, 2006 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 53 years. Ruben grew up in Munday, Texas where he graduated from High School. He entered the United States Army and served his country for the next 20 years. Ruben served in Germany before moving to Ft. Sill and later to Oklahoma City in 2000 to be near his children. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by 1 daughter, Juanita Vela, Oklahoma City, OK; 1 son, Ruben Vela Jr., Oklahoma City, OK; his Father, Manuel Vela, Waco, TX; 13 Brothers and Sisters, Akyssa, Aurora, Minnie, Lupe, Rosa, Amelia, Dora, Olivia, Maria, Joanie, Linda,Orelia, John, Jesse; 5 Grandchildren, Alyssa,Nico, Ariyana, Sophia, and Kynadei as well as a host of relatives and friends.
