Robert "Zip" Taylor
June 27, 1956 - September 7, 2019
Robert "Zip" Taylor, age 63, of Lawton passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.
Zip was born on June 27, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1975 and proudly served his country. After the Army, Zip became an LPN and worked for forty years at Reynolds Army Community Hospital and the Fort Sill VA Clinic. On July 7, 1977, Zip married Bonnie Litchford and they would spend the next forty-two wonderful years together. Zip was an 8th dan ABKA Lionheart Karate instructor and was an ordained minister, serving at God's Family Community Church. He loved to play guitar and praise and worship the Lord, who he loved more than anything. He is now kicking up and down the golden streets.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dale and June Reed and two brothers-in-law, Charles Litchford and Lynn Litchford, Zip is survived by his wife, Bonnie Taylor of the home; four brothers, Richard Taylor and wife Carol, Dale Wayne Reed and wife Tracy, Mike Reed and wife Amy and John Reed and wife Diane all of Oklahoma City; one sister, Debbie Reed of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Cindy Busch and husband Randy of Ohio; one brother-in-law, Allen Litchford and wife Shelby of Virginia; his mentor, Soke Denny Holzbauer, ABKA Karate of Jennings, Oklahoma; Tammy Carmody, who he loved like a daughter and numerous nieces, nephews and other close friends and relatives.
Zip also leaves behind his pets, who he loved dearly, Bassai, Kenji, Sansei, Callie and Luci.
Zip was the kindest, loving, humble, gentle spirit. There wasn't a person he didn't love. He fought the good fight and won. He is one of Heaven's angels now. He is leaving behind his legacy, the Lion Heart Karate Ministry. He loved his church and karate family so much. Proverbs 28:1b
