Irmgard Miller
May 19, 1935 ~ December 25, 2021
It is with deep sadness that the family of Irmgard Miller announces her passing on Saturday December 25, 2021. Irmgard was 86 years old.
Irmgard was born May 19, 1935 in Mainz-Gonsenheim, Germany to Peter and Katherina Nickolay. She was an only child.
On March 8, 1958 she married the love of her life, Nicholas Miller and they moved to the United States to begin their long and happy life together. While raising a family and helping with the family business Irmgard also spent many years working for the Department of Health Services acting as a caretaker for the elderly. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She showed her love by doing acts of kindness and service for others. Up until the week before her passing she was still visiting friends and delivering holiday plants to those she cared for and loved.
Irmgard had a talent for making things beautiful and loved decorating for the holidays. Her Christmas wonderland is perhaps the most notable. People from near and far lined up every year to see the beautiful Santa and lights display. She loved bringing joy to others and Christmas was her favorite holiday.
For many years she was an active member of the German American Club serving up the most amazing authentic German dinners each week, planning parties and holiday dances for the local community. She was a current member of the Duncan Moose Lodge as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Imma as her friends would call her, was kind, compassionate, was of pure heart and had a friend wherever she would go. Her pleasant personality was contagious and she was known for telling amazing stories. If you were lucky, maybe even a joke or two. Imma enjoyed music, dancing and being social. She was funny, outgoing, loved to travel and was known to be competitive. She enjoyed her weekly meetups at the Moose Lodge for treats and shuffleboard. Imma most recently acted as a co-pilot on a two week road trip with her daughter Kathy where she was able to visit her children and grandchildren for what would be the last time.
She is survived by her children Kathy Pinkerton of Duncan, OK, Michael Miller and his wife Chrissy of Duncan, OK, Glenn Miller and his wife Tracy from Virginia Beach, VA, Linda Strawderman of Mooresville, NC and Christina Miller of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Robert Woods III, Glenn (GA) Miller, Savannah Miller, Nicholas Mansel and Elizabeth Mansel.
Irmgard is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Nicholas Miller and her son-in-law, Wayne Pinkerton.
Imma will remain in our hearts forever.
