Michael Gene McClain, age 64, of Lawton passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Michael was the oldest of five children born to Mary and Lee McClain in Charleston, Missouri. He grew up as an Army brat, spending his early years living on military installations across the United States from White Sands Missile Range near Las Cruces, New Mexico, Fort Jay on Governors Island, New York and Fort George G. Meade in Maryland to overseas at Worms and Mannheim, Germany. He graduated from Meade Senior High School in Maryland and immediately joined the United States Army. While in the Army, Michael received numerous awards, medals and commendations. He accepted Christ as his Savior while in the Army and was baptized at Calvary Chapel at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland. While stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he met and married the love of his life, Johnnie Metheny. After retiring from the Army with over twenty years of service, Michael continued his education, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. In his free time, Michael enjoyed reading and playing basketball but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lee McClain, Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Johnnie McClain; two sons, Bernard G. Buchanan Jr. Of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Michael A. McClain of Lawton; his father, Lee A. McLain and wife Norma of Lanham, Maryland; grandchildren, Etha, Rihiana, Malike, A'Zariah, Rashawn and Admira; three brothers, Tony McClain of Fort Worth, Texas, Maurice McClain and wife Rosa of Princeton, Texas and Curtis Terrell and wife Ilda of Germantown, Maryland; two sisters, Whitney McClain of Bronx, New York and Shelley Cummings and husband Samori of Nashville, Tennessee; one aunt, Stokey Omaha of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, Larry Metheny and wife Sandra of Macon, Mississippi; two sister-in-law's, Debra Smith and husband Booker of Macon, Mississippi and Blanch Moy of East St. Louis, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Tanisha Washington of Macon, Mississippi; nieces and nephews, Tony Jr., Ronel, Marcus and Ashley and best friends, Ilma Davis, Shirley Newton, Pamala Smith and Shay Ray along with numerous other relatives and close friends.
