MSG James Masso, USA, Retired, age 80, of Lawton passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at his residence.
James was born on December 22, 1939 in Providence, Rhode Island to Albino and Mary (Bradley) Masso. After high school. James enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. While in the Army, he received numerous awards, medals and commendations including the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster before retiring as a Master Sargent in September of 1985. After retiring from the Army, he owned and operated Masso's Quick Mart in Lawton. He also dabbled in a TV and electronics repair service and served as custodian for Jack and Jill Child Care for many years until 2012. James will be fondly remembered as always being willing to help those in need. In his free time, James enjoyed reading, music, cinema, political debates and working with electronics and automotive repair, but most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albino and Mary (Bradley) Masso and his siblings, Michele Albino, John, William, Edward, Barbara and Mary Young, James is survived by his wife, Sun Ye Masso of the home; his daughter, Maria Meer and fiancé Albert Woodard of Cameron, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Dale Meer III of Palm Coast, Florida, Bradley Meer and wife Abigail of Jensen Beach, Florida and Michelle Meer of Fort Pierce, Florida; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Meer; one brother, Anthony Masso and wife Mayra of Delray Beach, Florida; one sister, Margaret “Terry” Fonda of Melbourne, Florida; four nephews and one niece along with numerous other relatives and close friends.
