Ronald Edward Lytle, Sr.

April 06, 1932 - March 01, 2018

Ronald Edward Lytle Sr., age 85 of Wanette, passed away Thursday, March 01, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Ronald was born April 6, 1932 in Edmond, OK, the younger of two sons, born to Howard Lytle and Gladys Belle (Hoskins) Lytle. He spent his early childhood in Edmond, before moving to Southeast Oklahoma. He began school in Enterprise and later graduated from Kinta. Ron answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army in 1953. He was a Patriot and proud of his service. Ronald met a young lady from Muskogee named Dona Lee Gayman, they fell in love and were married April 5, 1953 in Muskogee. They eventually settled in Bethany where together they raised 3 children, sons, Ron and Tim, and daughter Judy. Ron attended Okmulgee Tech, Connor State College, and Oklahoma A & M. Ron’s dream was to be a Forester, however not to be realized, he later became the next best thing, a Firefighter. He served the people of Bethany and the surrounding communities for more than 21 years. After retiring, Ron and Dona retired to Lake Eufaula. They bought an RV and began traveling the U.S., visiting nearly every state west of the Mississippi including Hawaii and Alaska. They enjoyed spending time together square dancing and He never missed an opportunity to go fishing. In 2000, they settled near Wanette to be closer to their daughter Judy. Ron was a man of great faith, he was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a true friend.
He was preceded in death by:
His parents, Howard and Gladys Lytle;
Great granddaughter, Hailey Lynn Serfoss.
Ron is survived by:
His wife, Dona of the home;
Daughter, Judy Smith and husband John of Wanette;
Sons, Ron Lytle and wife Monica Sue of OKC and Tim Lytle of Bridge Creek;
Brother, Charles Lytle of Indianapolis, IN;
8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
A Memorial Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 603 Classen Blvd, Norman, OK. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, March 5, 2018 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Interment is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin.
