Christopher James King

1SG (Ret.) Christopher James King passed away unexpectedly on March 10, 2020 after a brief illness. Born April 3, 1948 in McKeesport, PA to James Patrick and Virginia King, he grew up as the middle child of two sisters. His youth was spent hunting and fishing with his father and uncles in the hills of Western Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife Theresa of Lawton; daughter Narissa of Anchorage, AK; son James Patrick, stepson Rodney Brierton, grandsons Dylan, Nick and Joe and great granddaughter Stella all of Lawton, as well as many extended family members across Oklahoma.
Christopher served over 20 years in the US Army at Fort Sill and many other duty stations such as Fort Wainwright, AK; Aschaffenburg and Bamberg, DE; and Fort Lewis WA. Following his military career he obtained a bachelor's degree in History from Cameron University, and then worked for Goodyear Tire for another 15 years.
As a passionate outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting pheasant, goose, duck, deer, elk, bear, moose and antelope. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends. As an avid hunter he was lucky to have the found the companionship of two beloved animals, his English Springer Spaniel, Tammie, and his Chocolate Labrador, Koco.
He was a great storyteller, history buff, and beer connoisseur who often regaled his friend and family with wonderful stories of his many life experiences.
He will be dearly missed.
