Collette Pearl Keyser

Collette Pearl Keyser of Bethany, OK, passed away on September 3, 2020 at the age of 80. Collette was born to parents, Guy Leo Keyser and Helen Francis Collette on May 29, 1940 in Oklahoma City. She grew up as the middle of three children and attended Putnam City school system. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1957, having completed graduation requirements in three years. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma in 1962, later receiving a Master of Science degree from Texas Women's University. She spent her career as a nurse, working as an operating room staff nurse at Wesley Hospital, Oklahoma City; Queen's Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii; and at University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. In 1967, she entered active duty in the United States Army with a rank of Captain. She remained on active duty for nearly 23 years, retiring as a full Colonel. Tours of duty at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, Denver, CO; Brook Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX; 67th Evacuation Hospital, South Vietnam; Letterman Army Medical Center, San Francisco, CA; 2nd General Hospital, Landstuhl, Germany; US Army Medical Research and Development Command, Ft. Detrick, MD; US Army Medical Material Agency, Ft. Detrick, MD; and the Pentagon; then till retirement at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. After retirement, she worked 13 years at Mount Vernon Hospital.
Collette is survived by her brother, George Nathan Keyser, three sister-in-law's, six nieces, 20 great-nieces and nephews, and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, September 12, 10:30am at Mercer-Adams Chapel. Interment will be at a later date in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. To honor her memory, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
