Veldon David Huck

July 26, 1946 - October 18, 2017

Veldon David Huck, of Duncan, Oklahoma, was born July 26, 1946, in Evansville, Indiana, to Paul Eldon and Lois Pearl Huck. He passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at the age of 71.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Assembly of God, with Pastor Ron Meador officiating and Bro. Mike Peercy assisting.
Burial with military honors will be held at Fort Sill National Cemetery on Monday, October 30, at 10:00 A.M. Those wishing to join the procession to Elgin, should be at Whitt Funeral Home at 8:45 A.M. Arrangements are under the direction Whitt Funeral Home.
Veldon graduated high school in Poseyville, Indiana. He joined the US Navy in September 1965, where he served as a seaman 4 years and was stationed twice in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in September 1969.
He met and married Linda Elaine Martin while in Long Beach, California while serving in the Navy. They married on March 5, 1967.
Veldon was employed as a Metal Shearman making stoves for Magic Chef and Gaffers & Sattler in El Monte, California. While there, he played guitar and sang with a musical group, Southernaires, playing at churches in southern California. He relocated his family to Duncan in 1985. Veldon loved to hunt, fish, and ride 4-wheelers. He loved his family dearly, but he loved his Savior, Jesus, even more.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Thomas E. and wife Jennifer Huck, Kathleen D. and husband Joshua Walkingstick, and Melissa C. Hildebrand, all of Duncan; his grandchildren, Brandon Lee Loyd, Colton Nicholas Huck, Kayla Nicole Huck, Trevor Landon Loyd, and Bailey William Hildebrand; his great-grandchildren, Jaxon Lee Loyd and Ansley-Sue Lorraine Butcher; his brothers, Joseph Alfred and wife Jean Huck and Marlin Ray Huck; his sisters, Ina Kae Simpson, Elizabeth Ann and husband Don Cantrell, Paula Dean and husband Mike Rogers, and Alice Dell Huck; numerous nieces and nephews; and his German short-haired pointer, "Birdie."
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie Jean Huck.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Brandon Loyd, Colton Huck, Trevor Loyd, Bailey Hildebrand, Larry Loyd and Brandon Bates.
Memorial contributions may be made in Veldon's name to the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
