Jimmy Duane Henry

1947-2020

Military Services for Mr. Jimmy D. Henry, 72, of Edmond, Oklahoma will be held on Wednesday morning, August 12th at 11:00 A.M. at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma from 4:00 to 6:00.
Mr. Henry served a total of over forty years combined federal service. He began his career in March 1966 in the U.S. Army. He has served stateside at Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Benning, GA, Peterson AFB, Colorado (NORAD) and at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Overseas he served two tours in Germany and two tours in Vietnam. This culminated his retirement as the AG Sergeant Major at Fort Polk, in 1989. Shortly after his military retirement, he began his Civil Service 17-year career as the Fort Polk In/Out Processing Section Supervisor. He also served as the G1/AG Information Systems Manager, then the AG Personnel Services Center Chief before accepting the challenge of Department of Human Resources/Adjutant General position GS14.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandra, and his daughters: Kimberly Sellers and husband Darryle and Susan Arnold and husband Jon; grandchildren: Ashley Primm and husband Kameron, Matthew Sellers, Mason Arnold, and Connor Arnold; great-grandchildren: Ira Primm and Ava Primm. Siblings include sisters: Mary Thompson of Colorado Springs, Co; Tammy Shorts of Enterprise, AL; Laurie Buchan of Ruston; Sandra Tilton and husband Wes of Harrison, Arkansas; and brother: Joe Henry and spouse Judy of West Monroe, Louisiana. Also, special brother and sisters of New York.
